Birds twitting on a tree
A few days ago I woke up in the early morning (5.30 am).
As I live in the tuscan countryside, I can enjoy moments of unexpected natural beauty, whereas beauty is not only visual but, to me, also through other senses, peculiarly through ears.
I woke up and could hear birds twitting in the countryside, their twitting was just like the talk lead by older women in small italian villages, talking about the last happenings in the village’s life….
An image arose in my mind: twitters are like birds (no wonder, twitter the webservice chose a bird as symbol). Nothing special or genial, until this point.
I saw the inter-connections of twitters like those birds twitting in the country, talking about all and nothing at the same time.
All on a tree, a big one, supporting them.
I begun to think about the metaphors we use to figure out or describe modern phenomena like internet and the web-usage we - more or less - do of it.
Some social aspect can be figured out through natural images (twitter/tree
, twitters/birds), some other through scientific natural metaphors (neuronal connections, i.e.).
Maybe I’ll write more about this topic, I know I’ve always been fascinated by these ancient (aware use of the word) metaphors underlying our so told modern life.
